Welcome to the U.S. Cyclocross National Championships! January 4-8, 2012 in snowy Verona (Madison) WI.....WAIT! 40 to 48 degrees in January! I came to WI to race in the snow not more mud and frozen mud at that in the mornings. Based on Cyclocross World and Velonews a lot of the mud issues were due to the promoters spraying the course with a deicer chemicals that only made the course worse. I guess they thought it might snow.

U.S. CX Nats. Elite Masters 45-49 race. It was a fast, very tough frozen rutty muddy day. My race number was 169, started 69 and finished 58th in the crud. According to the race predictor I should have finished 73. I'm not very thrilled or happy about on the out come. Third day working the pits........typing on my phone blows, I will type about the WWI no mans course more when I get back to Columbus - and cool down

Long live my ALAN Team Xtreme Cyclocross bike, it gave its life for a good cause, my son. Three good seasons of CX racing and winter commuting before it meant its end at our first CX Nats. Worked 3 hours try to repair the rear triangle.... :( In process of stripping the frame down to hang on the wall. Together we finished 2nd overall in the Cap City Cross Series in 2010 and 3rd overall 2011. We also had several top 20 finishes at both UCI and USGP events. RIP my Team Xtreme, we had a good ride together..........

World's Master's CX Championships next weekend in Louisville, KY - only wrenching this year
